The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic
is known as the “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of adjusting is to restore
joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their
movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper
lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture
for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation,
pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating
pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
Brain
Balancing Dr. Pellicane incorporates Brain
Balancing as part of her approach to restorative healing. The small and subtle changes in our health, which we do not
notice on a day to day basis, add up to significant changes over time. Eventually, we wake up one day and ask ourselves,
“How did I get here?” Our goal is to allow the body to get everything working together, in balance, the way nature
intended. Brain Balancing is about finding and fixing the imbalances
in brain function, biochemistry and body function that create symptoms and promote dysfunction and disease. Since the brain
controls virtually every function in the human body, it is important to use both sides equally. This will allow the human
body as a whole to function optimally. The left side of the brain controls
logical thoughts, science, mathematics, etc. The right side of the brain controls intuition, arts, emotions, etc.
There are distinctly different chemical and hormonal functions assigned to the separate brain hemispheres, and having neurological
imbalance leads to a host of potential health issues. Through sophisticated
equipment and techniques, we stimulate the weak side of the brain to balance the brain and allow for optimal function of the
human body. It works for everything from fatigue to muscle pain, depression to digestion, allergies to autoimmune problems,
and for all human beings seeking overall enhanced performance in athletics and in life.
Do
my children need chiropractic?Children can be checked similar to
the way adults are evaluated. Children may have imbalances because of in-utero constraints, birth trauma, falls, bumps
on the head, or any other traumas like adults. Children generally respond very well to chiropractic care, because problems
have not been present for as many years and their spines haven’t degenerated. Chronic ear infections, stomach aches and leg cramps (growing pains) may be the first signs to appear from imbalance.
These may be followed by chronic respiratory problems like allergies, bronchitis and asthma. Many of the learning disorders
and behavioral problems may also be related to the subluxated spine. The distress to the brain and brain stem may affect the
ability to focus attention, comprehend, and process information. Chiropractic care for children offers your family a
solid foundation for wellness. Throughout pregnancy, birth, and childhood, the chiropractic lifestyle offers choices and benefits
for your greater health and well-being.
